Becker & Wolf 100L Wall Mounted Heat Pump Water Heater R290 – BWHP100WM290 – A+ Rated – WiFi – G3 Kit Included
100 Litres Wall Mounted R290 Refrigerant A+ Energy Rating WiFi Smart Control G3 Kit Included Becker & Wolf
The Becker & Wolf BWHP100WM290 is a wall-mounted all-in-one hot water heat pump offering 100 litres of capacity — ideal for households of 2–3 people. Using R290 (propane) refrigerant with a GWP of just 3, it achieves an A+ ErP energy rating and a peak COP of up to 4.32, delivering hot water for roughly a quarter of the cost of a direct electric immersion heater. Like the 80L, the entire system — compressor, microchannel heat exchanger, fan, and insulated stainless steel tank — is contained in one slim wall-hung unit with no outdoor component. Featuring WiFi connectivity via the Becker & Wolf app, a 2 kW backup electric heater, and supplied with a full G3 safety kit and potable expansion vessel.
ℹ️ Model: BWHP100WM290 · Capacity: 100 L · Refrigerant: R290 · Installation: Wall Mounted — Vertical · Suitable for: 2–3 persons
ℹ️ Estimated Recovery Time (Heat Pump Mode): Heating 100L of cold water from 15°C to 55°C at the rated hot water production of 25 L/h takes approximately 240 minutes (~4.0 hours) under standard conditions (20°C ambient air). In Boost / Electric Backup Mode (2 kW immersion), recovery takes approximately 139 minutes (~2.3 hours) independent of ambient temperature. Note: 100L rated hot water production estimated at ~25 L/h based on scaled heating capacity vs 80L; verify against final manufacturer datasheet.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can this heat pump replace my gas boiler for hot water?
Yes — the Becker & Wolf all-in-one heat pump is designed as a direct replacement for gas water heaters and combi boiler DHW. It provides mains-pressure hot water independently of any boiler. You will need a suitable indoor space (minimum ~5–8m³ for wall-mounted, ~10–15m³ for floor-standing) with sufficient ventilation or air duct connection. An F-Gas or REFCOM qualified engineer must handle the refrigerant if the unit ever needs regassing.
What ambient temperature does the heat pump work at?
The heat pump operates in ambient air temperatures from –7°C to +43°C. Below about 5°C, COP reduces; the integrated 2 kW electric backup heater automatically activates at low temperatures to maintain the set water temperature. In practice, most UK installations operate efficiently throughout the year.
Does it need an outdoor unit?
No — this is a self-contained all-in-one unit. The heat pump compressor, heat exchanger, fan, and storage tank are all integrated in one unit. There is no separate outdoor unit and no refrigerant pipework to run between two units. The unit draws heat from the room air and can be installed entirely indoors, optionally ducted to draw or exhaust air through an external wall.
What room size does this need for installation?
As a rough guide: wall-mounted 80L/100L units need a minimum space of approximately 5–8m³; floor-standing 200–300L units need approximately 10–20m³. The heat pump extracts heat from the surrounding air — too small a space will cause the room to cool too quickly, reducing efficiency. Alternatively, connect a 150mm air duct (floor-standing models) to draw from or exhaust to outside air, allowing installation in smaller spaces.
Is this MCS certified?
The Becker & Wolf heat pump water heaters are A+ ErP-rated and CE certified. Please check with Quality Heating / your installer regarding current MCS certification status for eligibility for any available UK government grants or incentive schemes.
What is the Legionella control cycle?
The Becker & Wolf units can reach 75°C, sufficient for thermal disinfection of the tank to control Legionella bacteria. A periodic disinfection cycle can be scheduled via the Becker & Wolf app or the control panel. UK guidance recommends domestic hot water systems store water at 60°C or above to control Legionella risk.
Can it be connected to solar PV?
Yes — the unit can be timed or configured to run primarily during daylight hours when solar PV generation is highest, reducing running costs further. Integration with solar divert controllers (such as Eddi, Zappi, or similar) is possible by scheduling the boost/immersion mode via the app or an external timer.
What is the difference between the 80L and 100L models?
Both are wall-mounted R290 all-in-one units with identical features. The 100L (BWHP100WM290) has 25% more tank capacity and a correspondingly higher recovery rate, making it better for 2–3 person households with slightly higher daily hot water demand. The 80L is more compact and suited to 1–2 persons.
Does the 100L include a G3 kit?
Yes — the BWHP100WM290 as sold by Quality Heating is supplied with a full G3 safety group (pressure reducing valve, expansion relief valve, non-return valve, pressure gauge, tundish) and a compatible potable expansion vessel. This means no separate purchase of a safety group is required.
